Seaglass Residents to Enjoy New Tennis and Aquatic Center

With full golf and sports membership opportunities available, residents of the Seaglass at Bonita Bay high rise tower being built by The Ronto Group and scheduled for completion in just 13 months will be able to enjoy the Bonita Bay Club’s new Tennis and Aquatic Center that is expected to open by the beginning of the 2018 winter season. Plans for the Center were recently approved by the Club’s Board of Directors. The Center will be the latest addition to Bonita Bay’s array of world-class amenities that includes five golf courses, upscale and casual dining choices, a full-service marina, a private residents-only beach park, on-property hiking and biking trails, numerous parks, and a 60,000 square foot Lifestyle Center that features a 20,000 square foot Fitness Center and Wave Café, and a 9,000 square foot spa and salon. Bonita Bay Club has been acknowledged as one of the ten healthiest clubs in America by Prevo Health Solutions.

To provide a focal point of the Tennis and Aquatic Center, the Club is building an 8,000-square foot center that will be positioned between the tennis complex and the aquatic area. This new Sports Center will include a tennis pro shop with a professional staff, racquet services, a tennis retail shop, as well as dedicated men’s and ladies’ tennis locker rooms. A covered patio will overlook the entire length of the Club’s new Championship Court. A small kitchen will offer casual fare, including salads, grilled items, and fresh sandwiches and a casual open-air bar under roof will be available for beverages. Outdoor dining options and a breezeway will be located on both the tennis side and the pool side of the building. Court assignment television monitors will be placed throughout the facility. A multi-purpose room will be available for meetings, event food stations, private dining, and tournament preparation.

The pool complex will feature dedicated pool locker rooms and a bathhouse as well as a new pool deck with chaise lounges, umbrellas, architectural features, and cabanas. The swimming pool will include areas for aqua classes, lounging, and marked swim lanes. Additional pool features will include a “beach entry” and a separate spa.

Named Private Facility of the Year by Tennis Industry Magazine, Bonita Bay’s tennis operations are overseen by Director of Tennis and USPTA Master Professional Paula Scheb and a staff that includes two additional certified tennis professionals. Scheb is the only Master Professional in Southwest Florida. The Master Professional designation is the highest accreditation given by the USPTA and is earned via coaching credentials, educational articles published, volunteer work, and speaking assignments.

“About 750 members play tennis, so it is a very popular sport within the Bonita Bay Club,” said Scheb. “Everything we do, every decision we make, is based on trying to create a better tennis experience for our members. We have new member orientations, ambassador programs, weekly round robins to level, and 41 special events during the season that include both tennis and socializing. With all we offer, we can help new members find the right level and a group to play tennis with very quickly.”

Tennis is offered at all levels from 2.5 to 4.5 for men and women who play recreationally and in competitive leagues. The instructional approach offers a level of consistency that is rare within club environments. To ensure students are receiving the same message from one lesson to the next, each instructor subscribes to a consistent, written approach to specific doubles strategy and stroke production. To track the progress of the instruction, written notes are taken and sent to each student. A member of the professional staff attends and watches each of the Club’s member home league matches and follows up with written notes.

The courts at the Club’s tennis complex are modified hydro-courts, the latest in subsurface clay court technology. Bonita Bay Club is the only club in Florida with the PlaySight system that provides a video and statistical analysis of play during matches. Available on several of the Club’s courts, PlaySight tracks every shot and provides players with the same information touring professionals receive.

Seaglass offers brand new, fully-completed, and ready-for-occupancy residences with designer-selected premium finishes, including flooring, paint, and trim.
